Job Duties: This position involves responsible professional work in the disciplinary administrator’s office, conducting and supervising investigations and prosecutions of attorney disciplinary cases. The deputy disciplinary administrator works independently and will be placed in charge of particular work as assigned. Work is reviewed through reports, conferences, and results achieved.
This position serves at the pleasure of the disciplinary administrator.

Examples of Work Performed:
- Reviews complaints of attorney misconduct, reviews investigations of attorney misconduct, conducts supplemental investigation, and prepares reports for review by the disciplinary administrator and the Review Committee of the Kansas Board for Discipline of Attorneys (“Board”).
- Drafts formal complaints, motions, and other documents to be filed with the Board in complex attorney disciplinary cases.
- Prepares and presents complex attorney disciplinary cases before the Board.
- Prepares, briefs, and argues complex cases before the Kansas Supreme Court.
- Prepares and presents continuing legal education seminars on legal ethics.
- Provides guidance to attorneys on ethics issues.
- Prepares or assists the Attorney General in preparing cases to defend the disciplinary administrator and/or the Board in state or federal courts as necessary.
- Performs other work as directed by the disciplinary administrator or the Supreme Court.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Rules Relating to Discipline of Attorneys and Kansas Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex work assignments in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in personal appearances before Boards and Courts.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a harmonious work environment through cordial, professional and respectful behavior.
- Thorough knowledge of the rules of evidence.
- Ability to analyze and organize a variety of information and to prepare written and oral reports.
