Job Duties: This position will work closely with the Statewide Specialty Court Program Manager, and work with the courts and local partners to establish behavioral health standards and procedures in our court system.  They will examine new best practice, programs and systems being used and be responsible for planning coordinating, developing and implementing them into our courts.  This position will be responsible for training court personnel and local partners in behavioral health topics.  

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Collaborates and coordinate with partners to plan, facilitate, and provide support before and after the Mental Health Summit. 
  • Analyzes existing and recommend new programs and standards to improve district court operations regarding behavioral health.
  • Analyzes behavioral health training needs by conferring with court officials and by studying and analyzing court operation programs and other court services.
  • Increase community behavioral health awareness.
  • Represents the judicial branch on committees.
  • Collaborates with internal and external justice partners on projects and programs related to behavioral health.
  • Testifies before the legislature on topics related to the courts and behavioral health.
Required Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in behavior science or related fields including but not limited to social work or psychology.
  • Knowledge of court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws, and legal factors pertaining to the various departments of the district court.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges and court staff and with external justice partners, governmental and private agencies and the public.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability in the areas of project planning, implementation, and evaluation techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present and discuss complex topics with leadership groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to navigate complex logistics.
  • Ability to plan and conduct meetings and direct projects effectively.
  • Ability to inspire innovation and work collaboratively for system change and change management.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and multiple applications.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
