Position/Salary and Benefits:       Court Services Officer III (Chief CSO), Grade 44, $73,525 annually
                                                           $75,406 after 6 months of successful performance
                                                           $81,097 after 1 year of successful performance

Job duties: This is supervisory and administrative work in court services which may include a limited client caseload. Typical responsibilities of an incumbent of this class would include:
  • Supervision of a moderate size court services program for an entire district and will include administrative duties.
  • Leads, supervises and evaluates the work of supervisory-level court services officers.
  • Evaluates performance and staffing needs in areas of assignment, and recommends hirings, terminations, merit increases and other personnel actions as needed.
  • Builds and maintains contacts with community resources to support court services programs and prepares budget recommendations for office.
  • Provides initial and in-service training at the district level and promotes participation in regional and state training programs.
  • Oversees caseload reporting and reviews program outcomes and accomplishments.      
Required education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree with major course work in corrections, counseling, criminology, psychology, social work, or a closely related field and four years of experience in court services work.
  • Graduate work in the social sciences, public, or business administration may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience on the basis of 15 hours for one year of experience.
  • Experience in court services work may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred qualifications: 
  • Working experience as a supervisor
  • Master’s Degree or graduate studies in the social science field
  • Computer knowledge
  • Kansas Sentencing Guidelines, including knowledge of Pre-Sentence Investigations and the use of KSApp /Domo. 
  • Experience with Odyssey, Enterprise Supervision, SASSI screening,  Effective Practices of Community Supervision (EPICS), Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (LSCMI),  Women’s Risk and Needs Assessment (WRNA) and Youth Level of Services assessment tools (YLS)
