Position/Salary and Benefits: CSO I, Grade 36, $28.78 hourly

Job Duties: This CSO I position is assigned to the Adult Court Services Department, primarily writing presentence reports.
This position requires knowledge of the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines. This officer will be responsible for completing thorough in-depth presentence investigation reports assigned through the District Court. This will include reading KBI/REJIS/NCIC reports and requesting criminal records from other jurisdictions to determine a defendant’s criminal history. This officer will be required to interview defendants and victims as well as make collateral contacts necessary for the report. This Officer will make recommendations for probation requirements based on the information gained from those interviews. This position will require the officer to complete LSCMI, WRNA, and SASSI certification (within 1 year) to determine probation placement and SB 123 eligibility. Maintaining a close working relationship with district attorneys, defense attorneys and judges of the District Court is required. This officer will need to have strong organizational skills, be able to communicate effectively, good time management skills, and the ability to work well with others in a team setting.
Required Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in corrections, criminology, psychology, sociology, social work, or a closely related field.

- Ability to multitask and have excellent time management skills
- Must be able to complete WRNA, LSCMI, and SASSI certification within 12 months of employment and maintain those certifications while employed

- Professional, courteous and cooperative in demeanor
