Job Duties: This is a highly responsible supervisory, administrative, and participatory position as Clerk of the District Court. The work involves the overall management of the civil, limited civil, small claims, domestic, probate, juvenile, adoption, criminal, traffic, and care and treatment functions of the District Court. Work involves the coordination of the various activities, technology, and subordinate personnel to ensure the case processing systems and procedures are efficient, effective, correct, and compatible throughout the court. This position is also responsible for the development and maintenance of systems, procedures, and organizational efforts required to process and monitor caseload activities. Requires complete knowledge of all computer programs that will assist with accounting, budget, docketing, and document preparation to be effective. Supervisory duties will include scheduling staff for office and courtroom coverage, reviewing and approving time sheets, preparing evaluation and counseling staff, and hiring and training new staff members. This position works closely with other department heads in the 8th Judicial District and Dickinson County, as well as staff from other offices and agencies. Work is performed under the supervision of the court administrator and the chief judge.
Education and experience: Graduation from high school or equivalency. Three years of clerical and administrative experience, including at least one year of court or other related legal experience preferred, and knowledge of modern office practices and computer programs.
