JOB DUTIES:
This position is responsible for supervising a team of officers who are responsible for conducting presentence investigations ordered by the court. The chosen candidate’s primary duties will include reviewing reports and providing guidance and instruction to staff, keeping appraised of changes to the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines Act, completing pre-sentence investigation reports as needed and completion of risk need assessments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a social services field is required. Minimum of two years of experience in the field of criminal justice with prior experience in writing presentence investigations is required. Knowledge of the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines is required. This position requires great attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills. Computer skills required. Ability to interact with stakeholders in a professional manner is required. Ability to work both independently and with a team is required. Ability to supervise staff and handle confidential personnel information is required.
DESIRED ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain calm in stressful situations and multi-task is important. Strong leadership skills are desired. Risk needs assessment certification is preferred.
