This position would be a hybrid work position. 

The Network Security Analyst works to secure the 18th Judicial District’s network infrastructure by configuring, testing, and optimizing networks and implementing solutions to improve overall information security. This position is distinguished from other information technology positions by the responsibility of providing technical leadership of security initiatives.

Job Duties:
  • Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions.
  • Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource.
  • Performing vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying, defending against, remediating threats, and developing disaster recovery plans.
  • Configuring security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements.
  • Monitoring network traffic for suspicious behavior.
  • Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.
  • Work collaboratively with the Infrastructure Manager in designing and implementing all security-related functions for the judicial network. This includes system backup plans and procedures as well as disaster recovery tests. 
  • Training staff to understand and use security protocols.
  • Work on assigned projects related to cyber security systems.
  • This position shares responsibilities with other team members in a variety of different areas, including but not limited to firewalls, routers, switches, video applications, VPNs, and access control systems.
  • Work with IS staff in Topeka to ensure security measures are in compliance with statewide systems.
  • Responsible for one’s own work product and may provide guidance, assistance, or mentorship to less knowledgeable or experienced coworkers. This may include scheduling of work, instructing in work methods, and reviewing work products.
Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related field and four or more years’ experience directly working with firewalls is required. At least one of these security certifications is required: CCNP, CISSP, SSCP, CEH, GIAC, Security +, OSCP, CCNA.

OR

Experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis as follows: graduation from high school or equivalent and eight years working in computer-related areas; four years of computer experience must be directly with Networking and Security Applications.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to handle large and highly complete work assignments in a timely fashion. Working knowledge of security protocols, IT systems, security measures and best practices.
