Job Duties: This position involves responsible professional work in the disciplinary administrator’s office and primarily includes conducting investigations and assisting with hearing preparation.
An assistant disciplinary administrator works independently and collaboratively with the investigative staff. An employee in this classification will be placed in charge of specific investigations.  Work is reviewed through reports and conferences and based on results achieved by the director of investigations or the disciplinary administrator. This position serves at the pleasure of the disciplinary administrator.

Required education and experience: Graduation from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in the state courts of Kansas. Engaged in the active practice of law for a minimum of 3 years, preferably in private practice, or comparable experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Rules Relating to Discipline of Attorneys and Kansas Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex work assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a harmonious work environment through cordial, professional, and respectful behavior.
  • Thorough knowledge of the rules of evidence.
  • Ability to analyze and organize a variety of information and to prepare written and oral reports.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion in a variety of complex, sensitive, or confidential matters.
  • Ability to use legal search engines and office technology.
  • Ability to apply legal principles and specialized knowledge to individual cases and problems.
  • Ability to analyze, appraise, and organize facts, evidence, and precedent concerned in assigned cases and to prepare written memoranda.
  • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, orally and in writing.
