Job Duties: This is advanced auditing work in examining and analyzing judicial branch operations and finances. Work involves providing analysis, appraisals and recommendations resulting from operational and financial audits of the district courts and the centralized payment center. Work is performed under the direction of the Audit Director.
Examples of Work Performed: (Position may not include all duties listed and duties listed may not coverall all duties that may be performed.)
Reviews procedures and operating controls for compliance with current statutes, rules and regulations and established policy and procedures.
Audits court records for financial accountability, case tracking and asset control.
Develops audit findings and prepares audit reports.
Ascertains reliability of management data developed, appraises the quality of performance for assigned responsibilities and recommends operational improvements.
Researches, develops and drafts policy statements, procedures and operational manuals to enhance the state’s court system.
Performs related work as required.
Required Education and Experience: Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, economics, or closely related field and one year’s experience in auditing, accounting, business or public administration
Required knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of accounting and auditing
Knowledge of state laws and regulations relating to fiscal affairs.
Ability to detect and reconcile discrepancies in financial records.
Ability to apply knowledge to the performance and solution of a wide variety of accounting or fiscal problems.
Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees, state and other government officers, and the public.
Ability to evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions and recommendations.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred knowledge, abilities, and skills:
3-5 years of experience as a CPA or Internal Auditor.
Experience operating or managing AR and AP processes.
Bank reconciliation experience.
Expert level Excel user.
Above average level of skill using all Microsoft 365 applications.
