Job Duties: This is responsible supervisory and technical work and limited and advanced bookkeeping and related accounting work for a large district court.  Work involves preparing and maintaining accounting records and reports including deposits, ledgers, journals, revenues, disbursements, and reconciliations for entry into appropriate accounting records. Maintains files of source documents and other information related to accounting activities within the court.  Additionally, work involves supervisory and technical work.  Requires supervision of employees.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the clerk of the district court within established policy and procedures and is reviewed by conferences, reports and primarily through verification of financial records and statements and through periodic audits.  Other duties include data entry, balancing date entry of collection reports, assessing restitution, responsible for adjustment of case balances, unclaimed property reporting, audit of receipt books, and general supervisory duties.

Required Education and Experience: Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and two years’ experience in bookkeeping.  Clerical experience in conjunction with at least 1 year court clerk clerical experience and 1-year supervisory experience.  Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and accounting procedures and terminology. Ability to apply advanced bookkeeping/accounting methods to the maintenance of fiscal and accounting records.  Ability to make complex and varied arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately.  Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.  Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university may be substituted for the required clerical and/or supervisory experience. Knowledge is required in the use of office equipment such as calculators, personal computers and MS Excel and MS Word.
